![]() Plus, much of the content is more suited to players who will stick around - additional challenging modes, items that mainly help harder characters, and more rare items. IMO, although it adds some great new items and mechanics, that also makes the base concept harder to learn. Nothing's nearly as dumb as Phasing or old Mana, that's for sure, and now there's lot of viable items to choose from.If you already have the base game (meaning you can't get the DLC in a bundle), you should play for a while to gauge how good you are before getting the DLC. I could list some minor nitpicks, but overall the game has gotten so much better compared to vanilla, especially if you like speedrunning or racing. I'm plenty satisfied with the $7 I spent, and I see any further updates we get as a bonus. ![]() They've kept trickling in new items with each update, and each time there were some more half-finished ones in the level editor to be fully implemented in the next one, currently Pulse Spell and a reworked Shield Familiar are in there.Įverything that's currently released feels complete and polished enough, save for Diamond lacking voice acting and Nocturna lacking cutscenes and her unique story boss (but I think those are just being withheld for the final release). Likewise there's also some "Coming soon!" placeholders in the new menu for extra game modes, no idea how many more there might be. Love Fortissimole, and love OC Remix's covers.ĭepends on how much else they might want to add, a they originally just said there would be "at least one more character" besides Nocturna, and that was Diamond, so it sounds like they haven't set in stone exactly how much more they're gonna do. ![]() And as I mentioned before, no more Phasing cheese, good luck to Coda players. But Aria got even harder, honestly I really think her zone order needs rethinking. Goolems got nerfed to only drop goo once, and there was much rejoicing. Familiars might be a little too useful on characters like Melody and Eli. New weapons are pretty strong, with Cutlass and Warhammer being braindead enough to deserve nerfs. We know she's still a work in progress, maybe some tweaks will come with her story boss.Īs far as difficulty goes, I think it's a little easier for most characters, but not a whole lot. Transform is a fun toy to play with and the Z5 bleed is an interesting twist, but it's not challenging and still feels like Cadence+. Cutlass feels really dumb for a starting weapon, I expect it'll get nerfed. She feels like a buffed Cadence, just add the Transform spell and Cutlass with no real restrictions. Nocturna is fun to play, but kinda too easy right now. I still think Z5 is a little bit easier than Z4 at the end of a run when you've got a good build going, but it can be pretty scary if you're not well-equipped - especially if you're Aria. ![]() The Conduit is a neat twist to help you deal with those swarms. Zone 5 is pretty hectic, you have to deal with some hefty swarms, including several enemies that move every beat and a unique projectile. ![]() And I'm glad Phasing is gone, it was dumb for speedrunning and things are much more competitive without it. My favorites are the Axe, Shovel of Courage, Shovel of Strength, and all the familiars. Many of the new items are really fun to play with, especially for speed. Even in Early Access I'm already enjoying the new additions a lot, and I have plenty of faith in BYG to continue adding more good things and polishing the parts that are a little rough around the edges. ![]()
